Data is the application: agentic coding made everything reversible except the data layer

Mattias Geniar argues agentic coding has made nearly all software work fast and reversible — features in days, redesigns in hours, mistakes undone by the next deploy — to the point where trying three versions is the norm. The data layer is the exception: soft deletes, down() migrations, and backups undo code changes, not data loss, so it demands desk-level focus. When code costs nothing, data design and management become the real application.
