Tailscale founder's exe.dev offers durable SSH sandboxes for developers and coding agents
davidcrawshaw · x · 2026-10-07
David Crawshaw, co-founder of Tailscale, now runs exe.dev — "computers for developers and agents." You reserve a pool of vCPUs/memory, SSH in as root with apt and systemd; VMs are persistent, private by default, and shareable via IAM. It ships with Shelley, a built-in web coding agent. Early users report vibecoding full backoffice apps with Opus 4.5 without reading code, and even programming from a phone. A companion podcast episode covers the Tailscale founding story.
