rseroter · x · 2026-10-07
Stack Overflow's 2026 Developer Survey is out, with 30,903 respondents from 169 countries covering 467 technologies.
- Job satisfaction keeps sliding: 33% say they're not happy at work, 45% describe themselves as complacent, and only 22% are happy — innovation pace and market uncertainty are wearing devs down.
- AI is concentrated in coding and testing; the report argues AI could reshape the whole software lifecycle but requires fundamental changes to workflows, roles, and ownership.
- Most devs aren't using security tools, and PostgreSQL remains the top database.
- It's the 16th annual edition, with 103 questions across 5 categories.
