Exa raises Series C from Felicis, betting search must be rebuilt for agents

Felicis investor pxd describes drafting his fantasy football team with Exa and Claude — never opening a search engine, wanting an agent to do the work rather than a list of links.
The firm explains its Series C investment thesis for Exa (CEO Will Bryk, co-founder Jeff Wang):
- Search must be reinvented for agents: model knowledge is stale at production time; agents need current information and full context, and search volume grows as agents take on more work.
- High-quality information is the key ingredient of reliable, high-performing AI systems.
- Origin story: Bryk set out to write a history book and was drowned in poor search results, prompting him to build a better Google.
Partners Peter Deng and Tobi Coker authored the 17-minute essay backing the team.
