OpenScreen 2.0: Claude Code edits screen recordings via MCP from one prompt
Fresh-Daikon-9408 · reddit · 2026-10-06
OpenScreen, a free open-source (MIT) screen recorder for Windows/macOS/Linux, shipped v2.0 with a local MCP server so Claude Code can drive its editing tools.
- One prompt: cut pauses and filler, zoom on clicks, speed up idle parts, add titles/labels, add music. In the demo Claude notices a misplaced zoom after cuts and fixes it.
- The author develops OpenScreen with Claude Code: writing specs and reviewing code while agents implement across parallel git worktrees, plus computer-use testing for real screen capture; an AGENTS.md tells agents how to build, test and drive the app.
- Free, no account, localhost-only. Setup docs and repo are public.
