coprod Launches co:system: One EtherCAT Bus and Sub-ms Real-Time Control for Whole Robots
FlolightC · x · 2026-10-06
Robotics startup coprod unveiled co:system, a unified stack targeting fragmented robot architectures (many buses, ad hoc bridges, no shared timing):
- Unified architecture: One EtherCAT bus (100 Mb/s), one clock, one API spanning sensor ADCs to developer function calls.
- Centralized real-time control: Deterministic sub-millisecond loops on real-time Linux, typically 1 kHz with <20 µs jitter, hardware-timestamped sync via distributed clocks.
- Modular hardware: co:motion, co:power, co:sense and co:battery modules snap together into a complete robot or drop into existing designs.
- API: Python bindings let you scan the network, read IMU orientation, and drive motors in angle/velocity mode in a few lines.
- Also offers in-browser simulation (co:dodo) running the same trained policies as the real robot. The team is hiring.
