Apple Details iPhone Duo Foldable Adaptation: iOS 27.1 SDK Required for Full-Screen Apps

Apple has published official guidance for its foldable iPhone Duo, with App Store submissions now live. Apps adapt differently by SDK: iOS 26 and earlier shows the app centered with empty space on the inner display; iOS 27 fills most of the inner screen but avoids the status bar; iOS 27.1 or later enables full-display layouts with vertical toolbars and tab bars.
Apple recommends developers run the app resizability skill in Xcode — asking the coding assistant to "get my app ready for iPhone Duo" — which scans projects for hardcoded screen sizes and fixed orientations that break foldable layouts, then explains each issue and suggests fixes. It's another case of AI coding assistance being baked into official developer workflows.
