The Windows Paradox: A Silicon Remix of Consciousness' Hard Problem
ctjlewis · x · 2026-10-06
Quoting a tweet that laid out the "Hard Problem" of consciousness in four steps (atoms aren't conscious → humans are made of atoms → humans are conscious → one of the three must be false), ctjlewis built a silicon remix:
- Silicon doesn't know what Windows is
- Computers are made of silicon
- Windows runs on a computer
- So at least one of 1-3 must be false
The parody perfectly mirrors the original logic — where panpsychists, dualists, illusionists, and materialists each deny a different premise — and lands the absurd implication that Windows is some kind of emergent phenomenon, delighting AI Twitter.
