Wharton's Mollick: AI labs' policy outsources hard choices to a future ASI
emollick · x · 2026-10-06
Wharton professor Ethan Mollick argues that current AI policy from the major labs echoes a familiar poem: if you believe superintelligence is near, you don't need to make hard decisions about how to build AI that makes the world better — just wait for ASI to decide for us. But if ASI never arrives, deferring those hard choices to a hypothetical future could prove costly. He also says he'll block replybots that quote a random line as "the part people miss" or force inane connections to business process re-engineering.
