The bottleneck isn't building software, it's defining it — a pushback on the 'software factory' idea
brandon_galang · x · 2026-10-06
A debate over the "software factory" framing for AI coding. The original argument: software was craftsmanship constrained by human writing speed; the first AI wave made craftsmen faster; now agents take features end to end. The rebuttal: scope definition now happens in tandem with agents — massive PRDs are gone, building IS discovery, and pulling yourself out of the building process makes it harder to define what you need. The bottleneck isn't construction, it's specification.
