Sam Altman Says 'Artificial' Filmed Outside His House and He Waved at Andrew Garfield

In a Vanity Fair cover story, Sam Altman addressed Luca Guadagnino's film "Artificial" — depicting his five-day ouster and reinstatement at OpenAI in 2023 — for the first time. Andrew Garfield plays him; Altman, who has seen the trailer, said "he did walk like me." Though the two have never met, Altman ran into the production filming outside his house while getting coffee, saw a man with his same backpack and mannerisms, felt he was in "some weird glitch of the simulation," and they waved at each other.
