Microsoft cuts Claude budget 90%, Meta halves users as Anthropic turns rival
The Decoder · rss · 2026-10-06
The Decoder reports that Anthropic's two biggest enterprise customers are sharply cutting back on Claude.
- Microsoft: slashed the per-employee monthly Claude budget in its cloud division from $100,000 to $10,000 — a 90% cut.
- Meta: halved its Claude Code users to 30,000.
Both companies are shifting usage to their own in-house AI tools. As Anthropic transforms from partner into competitor, its reliance on a handful of major clients is becoming a strategic risk.
