AI Won't Kill the Enterprise Architect — It Kills the Drudgery, argues David Linthicum

Responding to Forrester's piece on whether AI will eliminate enterprise architects, David Linthicum argues no. He agrees with the article's core point: as AI makes architecture artifacts cheap to generate, the scarce resource becomes the enterprise understanding behind them — value shifts to judgment, accountability, and governance.
The architect role, including the Enterprise Architecture Life Cycle, is inherently creative and innovative, and thus AI-proof. What AI automates is the drudgery that consumed most architects' time: drawing diagrams, assessing databases. AI kills the drudgery, not the architect.
