Figure retired its entire F.02 robot fleet by training the robots to autonomously jump into molten steel at a Finnish foundry. The robots were full of custom actuators and proprietary IP, so hand-disassembly would have delayed the F.04 launch, and no US or Mexico foundry would take lithium-ion batteries near expensive equipment.
The retirement took 24 hours across 6 melts, with 20-minute windows before the steel crusted over. Bars recovered from the melts are being machined into limited commemorative artifacts. The thread also mentions Runway's newly introduced robot-control model Praxis-1.
