The inaugural Human–AI Interaction Conference (HAIC 2027) has been announced for June 27–30, 2027 in Washington, DC, with a call for papers coming soon and a submission deadline in late January 2027.
The organizers argue that human–AI interaction is already studied across CHI, CSCW, NeurIPS, ICML, ACL, FAccT and more, but no venue treats it as the central problem. HAIC is built around studying people and AI systems as collaborators — the protocols, representations, and mechanisms of shared activity and how to measure them. It emphasizes tracking frontier capabilities through deep participation from teams building frontier systems, a dedicated practice and deployment track, and faster review timelines. Topic areas include collaborative intelligence and teaming, ethics/safety/societal impact, and interfaces beyond the chat box.
