Guadagnino says 'Artificial,' his OpenAI film, used 'zero AI' in production

Director Luca Guadagnino told The Hollywood Reporter that his new film about the birth of OpenAI and founders Sam Altman and Ilya Sutskever, Artificial, used "zero AI" in its making — as do all of his movies.
"I'm an old-fashioned guy. I'm analogic. I shoot on 35. I believe in good old performance," he says, quoting Jean Renoir: "You have to leave the door open to reality on a movie set" — which prompt-sending to a computer precludes.
Amazon MGM developed the project but declined to release it; Neon picked it up. Guadagnino and star Andrew Garfield frame it as "the fight to make sure we are allowed to make things freely."
