Illustrator's Blend panel: use Steps spacing and Appearance Shift for rhythmic spirals
rufusd · x · 2026-10-05
Designer rufusd shares an advanced Illustrator Blend panel workflow: create a blend of two shapes (plus a custom spine path), set Spacing to Steps and raise the count until the tube reads smooth, pick an Easing Type (Ramp for strength) to cluster steps, then drag Appearance > Shift to ride the color along the spine. Same two circles now produce an intentional-looking spiral — no more manually expanding blends just to nudge steps.
