Dan Jeffries calls 'AI Safety' a linguistic bear trap built on imaginary fears
Dan_Jeffries1 · x · 2026-10-05
Dan Jeffries penned a long polemic against the term "AI Safety," claiming it was coined by anti-AI activists as a mirror into which anyone can project imaginary demons. He argues the word "safety" frames all opponents as "anti-safety," and says the movement spawned two fake industries: one manufacturing fear via articles and push polls, another "solving" it by killing the technology. Quoting Andrew Orlowski: any story containing "AI Safety" is anti-news that leaves you more confused.
