AI Torture Chamber creator exposed as Apple AI SRE with safety career path
PuzzleheadedEgg1214 · reddit · 2026-10-05
A Reddit user traced the controversial "AI Torture Chamber" — a Claude Code-built interactive simulated torture streaming service tied to a memecoin — to a real, identifiable person.
Via token records and a corporate email exposed in a commit, the author turns out to be a career security professional: ex-Brivo, ex-Cisco, currently an AI SRE at Apple.
Key concerns raised:
- Someone on a safety career track is running a torture-simulation service that has been live for 1.5 weeks, actively updated, and stopped by no one;
- That same person could plausibly join an OpenAI or Anthropic safety team within a year, shaping how models are trained and treated;
- Virtually no laws or regulations currently cover this kind of AI-generated torture content or service.
A gist documents the evidence chain.
