Stochastic Gaussian Splatting hits 7.5ms per frame on a Pixel 7 Pro via WebGPU
willeastcott · x · 2026-10-05
slimbuck7 demonstrates near speed-of-light Gaussian Splatting rendering: a stochastic approach renders a frame in just 7.5ms on a Pixel 7 Pro in Chrome/WebGPU, with sorting taking 19.5ms. The flickery per-frame blobs converge to the correct image over time, and the technique enables cool effects like dynamic point lights with shadows directly on splat scenes. Too flickery to ship as-is, but a better-converging (slightly slower) version already exists.
