Pundit argues OpenAI is ~6 months ahead of Anthropic internally, hiding its frontier

VraserX argues OpenAI is roughly six months ahead of Anthropic internally, and that people mistakenly compare public releases as if they were the frontier.
His logic: OpenAI has every incentive to sit on its best models — if you already have the lead, don't burn your compute advantage by showing your hand. Hence the pattern of Anthropic shipping, OpenAI waiting, then dropping the next tier. "We're seeing what they're comfortable releasing." Speculative, with no inside evidence.
