Music MCP: a free menu-bar Apple Music MCP server for Claude with 23 tools, now on the Mac App Store

A developer built Music MCP because Claude only had a Spotify connector and existing Apple Music MCP servers required Python/Node plus an Apple developer key. It's a free Mac menu-bar app running a local MCP server with its own player: 23 tools covering search, play, queue, playlists, and opt-in listening history, over stdio or localhost HTTP, with no keys or account. It's on the Mac App Store; playback requires an Apple Music subscription.

Use cases include taste-matched discovery, playlists from local venue listings, focus playlists, and one standout: having Claude read old festival flyers and play every act a beloved small festival ever booked.

Two build lessons: let search accept a list of queries, or the agent makes 30 calls for a 30-song set; and make tool results report what actually happened, or the model claims a song is playing when it isn't. A one-line Claude Code setup command and a 44-second demo are included.
