Stop selling agents, sell one boring job: a 5-day playbook for landing AI automation clients at $500–$1,000/month

The author argues the "AI automation agency" pitch fails because nobody wakes up wanting an agent — they want emails read, sheets updated, and invoices checked. Selling a system sounds like a tool demo, and tools are what clients already ignore.
His fix: sell one finished job for one type of business, over five days. Day 1: pick one boring task (reading customer emails, copying numbers into Google Sheets, checking invoices) by talking to the person actually doing it. Day 2: run the math with their numbers — 3 hours/day × 22 workdays × $30/hour ≈ $1,980/month of time. Day 3: a small ask — show the hours, offer a free small batch so they can compare time and errors. Day 4: build around the job, not a workflow diagram — real examples, exceptions, human checks where it matters. Day 5: measure hours, turnaround, errors; if the pilot works, pitch a monthly retainer, with $500–$1,000/month a reasonable test price.
The offer shifts from "I build agents" to "every morning your customer emails are processed, the sheet updated, and anything needing you is flagged." Once it runs unattended, find another business with the same mess and reuse the system. The client pays for the outcome; the model is just how you get there.
