Codex resets only unlock near your limit — tip: burn a bit of usage first to redeem expiring resets

@buildwithhassan discovered the hard way that OpenAI Codex usage resets can only be redeemed at or very near your limit. With a weekly + 5-hour reset expiring at 12:58 AM and only 82% of his week used, he tried to redeem it early — Codex replied "Your usage does not need a reset right now," and he lost the reset.
Jeremy Nguyen shares the workaround: if a reset is about to expire, deliberately use a bit of Codex so the 5-hour window isn't at 100%, which lets you redeem it.
