The AI Delegation Paradox: Gaining Power While Losing the Skills You Value
danbri · x · 2026-10-05
A threaded discussion on AI delegation.
- arvidkahl: Delegation is landing in the hands of people who never intended to manage rather than do the work — coders, designers, artists — who love and hate it for different reasons. Their lament is atrophy, losing connection to the work; yet delegation is also a mode of power, "seizing the means of production" by exploiting GPUs. The tension: we gain power by not doing what we were trained to do, and in not doing it, lose the skills we still value more than conjuring work from thin air.
- Quoting @karakhanyanS: "AI laziness" is real — you start by delegating code, then browser actions, then everything. You become lazier and don't learn fundamentals like Apple signing certificates or Google OAuth. Mixed feelings.
