Nutanix Buys Ryax to Squeeze More Work Out of Enterprises' Idle GPUs
shashib · x · 2026-10-05
Nutanix acquired Lyon-based scheduling software firm Ryax Technologies on September 22. Terms were undisclosed and the deal is not material; the Ryax team will stay in France.
Key points:
- Enterprises face GPU shortages while many owned cards sit reserved for single jobs that use them only part of the time. A Ryax 30-run test showed 62% fewer node-hours.
- The per-run sizing and shared scheduling features will be folded into future Nutanix Kubernetes Platform and Nutanix Enterprise AI releases; they aren't in products today.
- CEO Rajiv Ramaswami said agentic AI needs simpler operations and more work from the same hardware; Chief AI Officer Debo Dutta told CRN partners will sell the scheduling features once available.
- Red Hat, Broadcom, and Microsoft shipped similar GPU-sharing controls the same quarter, as new datacenter capacity arrives slowly and optimizing existing GPUs is the near-term play.
