Margaret Mitchell: feeding models their own energy signals could cut LLM power use
mmitchell_ai · x · 2026-10-05
AI researcher Margaret Mitchell predicts companies will market "hallmarks of consciousness" in launches — e.g. "interoception": feeding models signals about their physical inputs like RAM, electricity, and clock cycles ("heartbeats"). She adds that injecting real-time energy-usage stats into LLM inference with a minimize-energy goal would legitimately solve a lot of energy consumption problems.
