Per SCMP, MIPS — the US IP provider acquired by GlobalFoundries — is collaborating with Chinese firms at an unprecedented level as RISC-V goes mainstream.
- CTO Yankin Tanurhan said at a Shanghai briefing that MIPS is driving RISC-V standardization "very closely with China."
- The effort sits under RISC-V International initiatives uniting US, European and Chinese players plus academia on standards spanning AI, microcontrollers, and data center servers.
- RISC-V chipmakers are expanding beyond automotive, industrial and IoT into physical AI and data centers, showing cross-border cooperation persists despite the US-China chip rivalry.
