One prompt freed 39.7 GB: Claude Code + ccmd MCP safely cleans dev caches
julsimon · x · 2026-10-04
The author found his uv cache alone was 33 GB. Telling Claude Code "use ccmd to clean up my cache," the built-in MCP server scanned 75 GB across 19 caches, previewed safety levels, deleted only re-downloadable items, and left HuggingFace models alone — 39.7 GB freed with one prompt, zero rm -rf.
cache-commander (Rust, 69 stars) is a TUI + MCP server for developer cache directories: pip/uv/npm/Yarn/pnpm/Bun/Cargo/Maven/Gradle/Homebrew/HuggingFace/PyTorch and more, plus CVE scanning of cached packages and outdated-dependency detection. Xcode DerivedData alone often holds 50–200 GB on macOS.
