Jigyasha: open-source voice-first Socratic AI tutor speaks 11 Indian languages
cneuralnetwork · x · 2026-10-04
Developer cneuralnetwork launched Jigyasha, a fully open-source AI teaching assistant (GitHub: jigyasa-ai-learning).
- Socratic method: instead of giving answers, it interviews students with questions, guides them to derive conclusions, and ends with a map of what they understand rather than a grade.
- Voice-first: supports spoken answers in English plus 11 Indian languages including Hindi, Bengali, and Marathi.
- Stack: built on Next.js with Supabase backend, voice powered by Sarvam AI, Playwright e2e tests included; users can paste their own notes to keep tutoring within the material.
- Works for any topic, from "why is the sky blue?" to textbook chapters.
