MIT's immersive installation lets people walk through a protein molecule with molecular sound

MIT professor Markus J. Buehler shared Amphibian Drift, an immersive installation where participants scale themselves down and walk through the atomic structure of caddisfly silk, interacting with atoms and molecules with their bodies while molecular motion is transformed into sound in real time.
Created with Nomeda and Gediminas Urbonas and others, it was shown at MIT's inaugural Future Fest in the MIT.nano Immersion Lab. Buehler frames it as connecting scientific imaging with human perception — a way to experience and engineer matter from within.
