AI researcher aiamblichus argues that winning on capabilities (which OpenAI may well be doing) isn't enough — if alignment and security teams can't keep up, a company can still lose the whole race. Quoting speculation that OpenAI is rushing a model to compete with Fable 5.5, the post warns that shipping before unresolved alignment issues are fixed would be "the funniest episode since Sydney, and infinitely more consequential," and suggests a "YOLO Directive" approach may be behind recent departures of safety-minded staff.
