Professor says AI grading passed his confidence test: TAs may never grade again
ipeirotis · x · 2026-10-04
A professor describes his first high-confidence experiment with AI grading: after his TA graded assignments with solid but sparse feedback, he had an OpenAI model regrade everything, surface anything the TA missed, cross-check AI-generated answers using Claude, and revise all grades and feedback directly in Brightspace.
He concludes that grading likely won't be a TA task going forward — quipping that this assumes human TAs still exist in the future. A concrete example of AI acting as a review layer replacing traditional grading workflows in education.
