$500 Codex subscriber hits inexplicable usage reset, slams unpredictable consumption math
sethlazar · x · 2026-10-03
Seth Lazar tried OpenAI's $500 Codex tier (motivated by Claude Code still lacking phone-launched local sessions) and found his remaining usage inexplicably recalculated from 82% with a 6-day reset to 0% resetting tomorrow. He calls the unpredictable consumption impossible to plan around — at $500, token anxiety should be gone entirely — and urges Anthropic to make Claude Code work well with iPhone and local machines.
