Cloudflare Agents SDK adds first-class support for long-running Pi agents on Durable Objects
irvinebroque · x · 2026-10-03
Cloudflare's Agents SDK (v0.26.0) now offers first-class support for the Pi agent harness. Combining Pi 1.0, Pi Durable, and a new PiHarness class, developers can build long-running agents on Durable Objects whose work is durably persisted even when interrupted mid-turn, surviving restarts, crashes, and network issues.
Key points:
- PiHarness is a new "Lifecycle capability" of the SDK that keeps agents running inside a Durable Object; Cloudflare says more Lifecycle capabilities are coming
- Install: npm i agents@latest @earendil-works/pi-durable @earendil-works/pi-ai; both Pi packages are optional peer deps
- Usage: configure the Pi Harness with a model, skills, and tools, then register it with the Agent class
- This is Cloudflare's first step toward first-class support for third-party agent harnesses, built with Earendil
