Custom stock MCP connector cuts agent research cost ~12x vs Anthropic equity agent
SnowSilent7695 · reddit · 2026-10-03
Reddit user SnowSilent7695 was inspired by Anthropic's equity research agents, but generating earnings updates for four portfolio stocks burned 300k+ tokens in 20 minutes — unscalable. So they built a custom MCP connector dedicated to real-time stock research and benchmarked it in Claude Code against Anthropic's equity agent, asking both to stream live updates to a dashboard. Token usage was 15k after 2.5 minutes (not great), but only grew 10k over the next 20 minutes — 25k tokens total for continuous streaming research, a major cost improvement. The shared dashboard was built by Claude; the goal is cost-effective real-time agent stock research.
