"AI slop" is everywhere, but what exactly makes text feel like slop? A new paper, Measuring AI Slop in Text (Chantal Shaib, Tuhin Chakrabarty et al.), offers a systematic attempt to quantify it. The group will present at COLM (Oct 6-8): work on AI slop and copyright, the slop measurement poster (Oct 6, 11:00), and Alignment Whack-a-mole at an oral spotlight (Oct 8, 10:15).
