Vison: open-source desktop app runs local image/video diffusion on a 6GB GPU via Vulkan
Decent-Manager-5373 · reddit · 2026-10-02
A developer open-sourced Vison, a desktop app for generating images and video entirely on your own GPU. Built on stable-diffusion.cpp and ggml with a Vulkan backend (no CUDA needed), it runs FLUX.1 Schnell, Z-Image and Wan on a 6GB laptop GPU — no accounts, no credits, prompts never leave your machine.
Licensing: Vison is MIT; bundled ffmpeg is an LGPL build with no GPL components, output video is VP9/WebM (royalty-free) by deliberate choice; model weights each carry their own terms, so check before commercial use. Free with no paid tier. Windows-only for now, single developer; the portable C++/Vulkan backend means macOS/Linux is mostly packaging and testing work, and contributions are welcome.
