OpenAI fired staff without explanation; researcher says lawsuits or testimony may force details
davidmanheim · x · 2026-10-02
AI safety researcher David Manheim speculates OpenAI fired employees without explanation either as an unconsidered PR misstep it will soon address, or because the matter was whistleblower-like enough that disclosing details would look worse. He says nothing else is known publicly: without extensive detail from OpenAI, answers will only come via congressional testimony or lawsuits — and if legal was consulted, the internal documentation should have been airtight beforehand.
