DIY yard robot U-BOT v2: 4-wheel direct drive fixes torque and terrain failures
_Stocko_ · x · 2026-10-02
Maker @Stocko shares U-BOT v2, a DIY yard robot. The v1 two-wheel-plus-caster design failed transitioning from yard to driveway, and torque requirements for grass were badly underestimated.
V2 moves to a 4-wheel direct-drive layout with a passive center pivot for steering and two tool payloads — a nice iteration log for hobby robotics.
