Agent trust won't be one global market: AWS exec says founders need US and EU roots of trust
julsimon · x · 2026-10-02
Julien Simon (AWS) argued on an investor panel at the AI Assurance & Governance Summit, Stanford Faculty Club, that trust for AI agents will not be one global market.
His evidence comes from European payments: before the Brexit transition ended, the European Banking Authority announced it would revoke certificates of UK open-banking providers — certificates follow jurisdiction. Similarly, a European bank will ask where an agent's keys live, which government can order them handed over or switched off, and which court to sue in before letting agents into production.
His advice to founders: build for two roots of trust from day one — one American and one European.
