deanwball · x · 2026-10-02
Dean Ball, OpenAI's Director of Strategic Futures and author of 'Hyperdimensional', said at the Foro La Toja forum that AI is changing our relationship with time: the long term may only be a year and a half or two away, while the short term is tomorrow. He acknowledged the ongoing tension between focusing on distant-future scenarios and immediate problems, calling this compression of timescales a distinctive effect of AI.
