Cloudflare ships Sandbox SDK 1.0: Durable Objects now control sandbox containers directly
threepointone · x · 2026-10-02
Cloudflare released Sandbox SDK 1.0, letting your own Durable Object class control each sandbox container directly via the container API. New capabilities include: - choose image and instance size at sandbox start; one class can run different images, and deploys don't restart running sandboxes - save sandbox files as snapshots (public beta) and restore into the same or a new sandbox - decide when each sandbox stops - run commands with streamed I/O, send signals, open terminals - serve previews from sandbox ports with your own hostnames and auth - handle outbound requests per hostname in Worker code so credentials stay in the Worker - run an agent in the same Durable Object and expose a tool that executes commands in the sandbox.
