Open-source WaterShip alternative to Jev: text-in classification with per-option probabilities
SamratDuttaOfficial · reddit · 2026-10-02
Inspired by the YouTuber hype around TypeSafe's Jev, a developer built WaterSheep over a weekend and open-sourced everything: an Apache 2.0 model that answers plain-text questions (yes/no, single choice, rating, multi-label) with a probability per option.
It accepts the same request format as Jev — TypeSafe's Python SDK works against a local server — and adds a multi-label type Jev lacks. Runs in-browser, or via transformers, ONNX, CLI, or a local HTTP server.
Eval: 77.8% accuracy / 0.026 ECE in-distribution; 61.2% / 0.043 on held-out datasets, with weak results published too. Limits: English only, long-input truncation, weakest on ratings.
