Full details for SemEval-2027 Task 9 on multimodal news framing are out. Two subtasks cover paragraph-level text framing classification and image framing detection (oracle and blind contexts) across English, Bulgarian, Portuguese, and Russian, benchmarked against Card et al.'s 14-class media frame taxonomy. The motivation: images can reinforce, complement, or contradict textual framings, enabling cross-country comparisons of journalistic practices and detection of manipulation attempts. The evaluation window runs January 10-31, 2027; team registration is open and baseline configurations are available for testing.
