Web3 Tools MCP: open-source server lets agents query balances and send decoded, simulated onchain txs
Forsaken-Animal1305 · reddit · 2026-10-02
A developer released Web3 Tools MCP, a hosted (and MIT open-source) MCP server that lets AI agents work onchain across 19 EVM chains — free for now with daily limits.
- Capabilities: check balances, value a wallet across chains, look up token prices and yields, send transactions (Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, etc.).
- Safety design (the highlight): the agent never holds keys. Transaction requests route to your phone or browser wallet, and are decoded and simulated first — instead of hex you see "Supply 250 USDC to Aave V3, 184,207 gas, will succeed" before approving.
- Setup: add https://web3-mcp.hajnalben.com/mcp as a custom connector in claude.ai, ChatGPT, or any remote-MCP client; sign in with a wallet signature; QR-code pair your phone for approvals.
- Open source: github.com/hajnalben/web3-tools-mcp (MIT) for self-hosting. EVM-only for now.
