80% to 100% takes weeks even with frontier models, engineer warns after SVG skill grind
pauliusztin · reddit · 2026-10-02
Data/ML engineer pauliusztin's experience generating teaching diagrams with LLMs shows that even with frontier models, going from 80% to 100% takes weeks or months.
He vibe-coded an SVG diagram skill with his branding in 5 minutes, but the last mile took weeks: wrong color combinations, arrows overlapping objects, weird symbols (a figure's head "10 cm" from its body), and no style worth publishing.
What got him to 100%:
- Adding strong positive and negative examples (the most important and time-consuming step)
- Restricting SVG components to a fixed set
- Baking in clear coloring and structure principles
His conclusion: anyone claiming to run 1,000 skills either ships low quality or spent enormous time refining each one. Stop being impressed by every demo.
