Failed AWS Cert Twice, Then Passed: Four Tactics for Timed Hands-On Assessments
DigitalColmer · x · 2026-10-02
AWS practitioner Dorcas C. shares how she failed her first AWS microcredential (Serverless Demonstrated) but later passed Datalake and Agentic AI microcredentials by changing her exam approach, not her study plan:
- Bank independent challenges first: scan for task dependencies upfront and clear low-dependency items early—every Pass is secured before tackling long dependency chains.
- Don't rediscover information you already have: resource names, ARNs and endpoints are given; clicking around the console to find them under time pressure wastes minutes.
- Additional points cover pre-exam preparation and mindset.
AWS Digital Coach Paul Colmer amplified the post, adding that he failed his SysOps Administrator cert in 2021 while working at AWS and uses it as a fail-fast teaching example.
