GPT Models Play Morrowind: Astra Solves Quest, Luna Wanders 10 Hours Lost
Lamppost100 · reddit · 2026-10-02
A developer built AstraBridge, an adapter for a modified OpenMW build that lets LLM agents play Morrowind, and gave three GPT models the same quest.
- The agent gets screenshots plus a semantic/action interface (movement, dialogue, inventory, combat, persistent memory), with auto-pause per turn, but no hidden game state.
- GPT-6 Astra completed the Fargoth quest immediately; GPT-6.1 Sol followed closely.
- GPT-6 Luna Max struggled with spatial orientation and spent 10 real-time hours wandering Seyda Neen asking NPCs for directions before being stopped.
- Open source (Linux only, container/WSL support planned); the author stresses it's for fun, not a real benchmark.
