Open-source Harness fork moves coding agents out of the app into orca
dee_hw · x · 2026-10-02
After receiving a Harness device from autonomouslabs, user NixFred dug into its open-sourced code during shipping and published his own fork. Openness was the key selling point: having built omarchy plugins before, he could make changes impossible on proprietary devices.
One example change: his agents run in orca rather than the official Harness app. The openharness repo bills itself as a unified command center for coding agents (Claude Code, Codex, Hermes) and beyond—extending into CAD, circuits, robots, games, and music. autonomouslabs shared the fork as exactly the kind of extension they hoped to see.
